Midlothian Electric Company is locally owned and operated.  Each of our employees that work  on your project will make sure that your job will turn out perfect.  This is the step by step process for the electrical potion of your pool installation.

Once Pete Parks comes out to layout your pool, please call Midlothian Electric Company to set up an appointment for an estimate.  It is best for us to physically come out and look at the whole job rather than give you a price over the phone.  It is at this point where will discuss the location of the pool, filter, and switches.  We will also discuss the electrical permit.  You can reach us via phone or e-mail.

Once they bring the equipment to your home to dig the pool, call or e-mail us so that we can get your job on our schedule.  We will be in contact with Medallion Pools and the men working on your job to stay on top of their schedule and ours.

The electrical work consist of getting power from the breaker panel inside your home, getting power from the switch location to the light in the pool.  This will require us to dig a trench 18” deep from the house to the pool pump location.  All wiring for your pool will be installed in PVC (plastic) conduit.  Once at the pool pump we install a white PVC post which will hold the switch, outlet, and salt generator (if you have one)

Next we install the conduit and wiring for the pool light(s).  This conduit will run in a ditch 12”-18” deep from the post (were you decide for the switch to be) to the pool light(s).

Finally the grounding:  The metal parts of the pool and other non electrical equipment associated with the pool such as piping, pool reinforcing steel, ladders, diving board supports, and fences within 5 feet of the pool shall be bonded together and connected to non current carrying metal parts of electrical equipment such as decorative type pool lighting fixtures not located in a forming shell, metal screens or shield for underwater speakers, conduit, junction boxes and the like, by a copper conductor not smaller than No. 8 AWG, which shall be connected to the pool motor ground or ground electrode.
The following sketch illustrates the requirements for pool bonding.  The pool is now ready for the electrical inspection.

inspector Midlothian Electric Company will schedule the electrical inspection with your locality.  We will also be there to meet the electrical inspector.  The electrical inspector will be looking at the installation of the conduit in the trenches, connections of the switches, outlets, and the grounding/bonding.  He will need to get into the house to look at the connection we made in the breaker panel.      The pool pump will be running and the light will be working.  Once we complete the rough-in electrical inspection, the balance of the invoice for the electrical work is due.
The next inspection you will have is the final electrical inspection.  Most localities do this inspection at the same time as your final building inspection.  The inspector will be looking at the final grade (concrete) railings, fences, and pool lights.  We do not need to meet with the inspector this time because everything electrical was looked at on the rough-in inspection.
